HELP FIGHT AML

It is with great sadness that we share with you that Barbara Knight died peacefully among close family on November 16th after battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) since she was diagnosed in January 2021. She bravely faced the odds with unwavering grace and extraordinary strength. During her time in the hospital, she became selflessly aware of fellow AML patients stressed by the financial burdens of ongoing care.  Her dedication to promoting awareness of AML and helping aid the patients and families who continue on their fight, led her to creating The Barbara Knight Foundation.  Through this Foundation, her legacy will live on and more families will be touched.

Barbie lived an amazing life, inspiring all who knew her with her positivity, pure joy and passion for life. Her family, friends and faith meant everything to her, as did the Barbara Knight Foundation.   Your support and prayers were a great source of encouragement during her journey. Arrangements are pending, including a Celebration of Life, so please return to this site for more updates.

A MESSAGE FROM BARBARA KNIGHT

After my successful battle with breast cancer in 2018, I thought I was in the clear. I was living my best life, traveling, running several businesses, and spending time with my family. Then, in December 2020, I started feeling sick. Initially, I thought it was a bad cold. I was coughing, run down, and had no energy. The symptoms persisted. I was tested for Covid… negative. My condition worsened to where I could barely stand on my own.

In January 2021, I made my first of several visits to the ER. Finally, after getting no answers and feeling worse, I had a bone marrow biopsy. The results shook me to my core. I was told I had one of the most aggressive forms of leukemia… Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The doctors wanted me to start treatment that day!

Since my AML diagnosis, my life and priorities have completely changed.  I am now on a journey to not only beat this disease, but to help others who are battling AML. I invite you to join me as we raise funds for AML patients who are struggling financially as they fight this deadly disease. Together we can help make a difference in the lives of AML patients and the families that love them.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

XOXO,

Barbara Knight

DONATE IN MEMORY OF KATIE WESLEY

On behalf of the Barbara Knight Foundation, thank you for your generosity and love. When Barbara Knight was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last year, she wanted to turn a negative into a positive, so she founded the Barbara Knight Foundation to specifically assist AML patients and their caregivers.  Through her AML journey, she was blessed to meet Katie Wesley, a fellow AML patient.  Barbie credits Katie for guiding her to MD Anderson where she is currently recovering from a bone marrow transplant. As per Barbie's direction, the AML patient financial assistance fund of the Barbara Knight Foundation will be named in honor of Katie Wesley.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

The Barbara Knight Foundation strives to promote awareness of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), the vital need for bone marrow donors, and to provide financial and emotional support to AML patients. With your support, we can help make the battle against AML something of the past!
